did you know…
well, this is my unofficial ‘DID YOU KNOW…’ section.
random, I know, but I’m bored… you don’t HAVE to read it.
so, did you know…
- When herding cattle, you need to know that they know better than you (that’s evolution for you) if there is a predator around that is a threat. How they tell you, the herder, is the fun part: If all of the sudden you hear all the cattle around you start to urinate in unison… well, that’s your que to save the day.
- the two most common methods of spreading Hepatitis B is on toothbrushes and kissing… now that I’m writing it it doesn’t seem nearly as interesting but it was at the time
- the Maasai are known for having some of the fiercest warriors in Africa, but their greeting that is still used today is ‘Kasserian Ingerai’ or in English, ‘how are the children?’ …not exactly the fiercest of greetings… or is it an ancient attempt keep their thoughts down to earth? Maybe, maybe not.
- Certain malaria vaccines are known to cause more harm than good. I have already been warned by several close friends against taking a particular drug, LARIUM. All had experiences with it acting up and causing nausia, rashes, along with a few other not-so-nice side effects. It has to be said though, none of them were found to be infected with the malaria virus… Comforting, eh?
