Hopefully it’ll turn out as good as this one did…

the excitement factor of being my first independant trip did help speed the time, but the time I borded my first flight out of Haneda and landed in Jomo Kenyatta, a good 24 hours had passed. Though getting there perked me up nontheless, making the trip back in the backseat with Digby for the first time who had made his way there from Johannesburg a lively one.

Missed one bit there: On the plane I got chatting with a missionary that was trying his hardest to Save me, though it was too early in the trip for his preaching to have any affect on my disbelieving mind. Though, I sat there listening, intent on being able to say I RESISTED THE TEMPTATION OF SALVATION. Now that makes no sense to me, but it did at the time… experience made me wiser? Maybe. -not saying I’m wise by any stretch of the imagination. It was a good flight-filler.

Getting to the Savages’ was no disappointment either. Their house was full with the exception of one bed, thus Digby had the voluntary pleasure of sleeping on the floor – making the easy decision of sleeping on the bed the only one for me. Needless to say, I slept like a baby.

the over-usage drained the battery of the darn thing ten times the speed I would have liked it too, because I relied on it for maps, phoning the distant organizers of the trip (I’ll get back to this), indulging myself with music whithout which I surely WILL die…

though that was the reason for the small number of tweets through-out, WordPress brought one particular problem of its own that kept me from blogging: the Blackberry client fell through as I was in the the car to the airport right here at home!

thus I’d like to add here, an unofficial criticism to those at WordPress to get off their asses and fix the bleeding client!

Taylor just Twittered:  Despite a cockroach that found his way into my ear I had a good nights sleep.  We are going to walk and hunt in Tansania.  A break from the walking for spear throwing / bow & arrow shooting lessons.

This just in!  Taylor and crew are in the Maasai lands and all if fine – ready for a few adventures -  lots of elephants around – so i think they are up for an interesting week – everyone in excellent form

Guess what?! I was an illegal immigrant in africa!
We didn’t apply for the Ugandan visa when we should have so technically I was in Uganda illegally
But we paid the money for the visa that we owed so the guy was being nice and let us through there really are some nice people over here

I got asked to go white water rafting, I said ok
I rafted the nile for 30km, and went under for 10 seconds with the rapids
Scariest but most relaxing thing I’ve ever experienced

Hey! We are now about an hour into Uganda, and we just passed a bunch of school kids in uniform playing soccer on a field… The only thing that resembles canada or japan

Nairobi is great fun I must say.
Even if I did only have one nights sleep in the past four days, its been great!

Ate bugs,
Chased zebras,
Had a private boat tour on a boat around the hippos,
Even got the chance to use my far overstocked first aid kit.

But aah, I’m still thinking of home
All is good.
