what Exactly we’ll be doing

The plan is to be in Africa from August 7th 2009, and leave September 1st 2009. On the 25th, we go into the Maasailand and stay with a host tribe. After that, we both plan to head our own ways simultaneously on the 1st.

Our first week there (sometime around the 7th) will be spent in Uganda near the Kenyan border, where we will get the chance to experience a white water rafting trip along the Nile among the wild animals (eg. Crocodiles, Hippos, etc.) as a ‘warm-up’ to the trip

We will then for a second week head to Kenya near Nairobi, and spend a week at a reserve of some sort on the 14th. There we will, as to my understanding, work for our keep and get an idea for the country.

We will then travel down into the Maasailand on the 25th for our final week, where we will be in the Maasai’s care.

Plans for what we’re doing with the Maasai are still not 100%, however I do know this:

We will be living as one of the Maasai. We will eat as they do, dress as they do, and most importantly, do as they do. We will work with them by herding their cattle, we will take part and become Maasai Warriors for what little time we spend there, and we will sleep in the huts that they do.

The main goal that was set out at the beginning of all this was to learn what it is to be a leader in various societies… I think we’ll be learning a heck of a lot more.
